FESTIVAL COORDINATOR
Reporting to the Festival Committee, the Festival Coordinator will work in a fast-paced environment, assisting in all aspects of the Ice Follies Festival from pre to post festival operations. The ideal applicant has experience in stage or production management, event planning or coordination, arts administration, budgeting and festival programming.
ABOUT ICE FOLLIES
Ice Follies is a biennial festival of contemporary and community engaged art produced by an ad-hoc collective on frozen lake Nipissing. Audiences are invited to engage with works situated off shore from the North Bay waterfront and along the shores of Nipissing First Nation. The Ice Follies Committee includes representation from the three artist-run centres in the Nipissing area spanning contemporary visual arts, aboriginal arts, performance, media arts, and community engaged artistic practices.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee festival deliverables under a timeline including preproduction, scheduling artist travel, installation and tear down.
- Coordinate communication between organizational partners and festival contributors.
- Assist with the daily function of Ice Follies, supporting the festival with various administrative tasks
- Communicate with media and conduct outreach on communications-related matters, as required
- Work closely with team members and participating artists to complete time-sensitive tasks
- Help manage community participants and volunteers
- Work with the book keeper to assist with budget tracking and management
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- An ability to work in mid-winter outdoors in sometimes extreme conditions (on a frozen lake)
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage time efficiently
- Ability to work well individually and with a team
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends (especially around the festival opening weekend)
COMPENSATION
- $35/HR, 20 hours a week for 9 weeks ($6300)
